1. What is the purpose and significance of the hosting BC Buddhist Festival?

A. Pray for world peace

B. Culture Aspect

To spread and teach Buddhism, to let more people know about Buddhist culture and Dharma.
 To present Buddhism to Western society as a complete showcase of Buddhist culture, the solemn of Dharma, the compassion, as well as skillful convenience.
To provide the public an opportunity to learn what is Buddhism and cultivates their compassion heart and good deeds.
To promotes Buddhist Teaching in Western World.

C. Buddhist Organizations and Groups

Introduction of Buddhist organizations and groups of difference traditions from different parts of the world, to increase its influence in the Greater Vancouver area, and to make this event a stage to enhance the communication and mutual trust between different organizations and groups (including all religions, including Christianity, Catholicism and etc.). To provide an opportunity for different organizations in the Greater Vancouver area to present publicly and promote unity and harmony of all traditions of Buddhist Organizations as well as for people from other religions.

D. To teach Dharma and to benefit sentient beings

Even through the event different traditions of Buddhism will showcase their uniqueness and advantages, so that the public will have a better understanding of Buddhism and have the chance to choose the lineage that they are keen to and practice according to their own level. We aim to spread Buddha's teaching and benefit all sentient beings in the western world.

E: Charity Donations

Profit Allocation: 10% of it will be retained as the fund for the next Vesak Festival
                   45% of it will be donated to community hospitals
                    45% of it will be donated to different Buddhist Organizations

2. What activities do this event has?

A. Participants
The participants include various Buddhist temples, Buddhist groups, individual Buddhists and general public from Great Vancouver Area and all over the world. This is the very first event co-hosted by Sanghas from different traditions in B.C.

This is the first time in BC heritage monks gathered together different events, both promote Buddhism, monks also unity, are believed to show the strength of a large-scale Buddhist activities. It will be a significant event to spread Buddhism, Unite Sanghas and demonstrate the strength of Buddhism in right faith.

B: Diversity of activities
Bathing Buddha ceremony, Darma teaching, performances of Buddhist culture, vegetarian food promotion, showcase of different traditions of Buddhism, silent auction and etc.

3. The partition of function venue

1)  The stage

9: 30 am -11: 30 am, the masters chanting and praying collectively
11: 30 am-12: 30 pm, Ceremony of Alms Offering to the Sangha
12: 30 pm-6: 30 pm, Buddhist ceremonial presentations from different traditions, Dharma teaching, Buddhist musical instruments performances and Buddhist dances.

1) Independent exhibition area for each Buddhist association

2) Vegetarian food promotion area
Organic market, cooking class, food selling from different vegetarian restaurants and selling of vegetarian food for charity

Chanting area, chapel area, life releasing area ,pilgrimage area, Darma teaching area and confession area

Buddhist children's class, Buddhist Youth's class

Notes:
1. Each exhibition area can sell items and vouchers are utilized as currency, 20-40% of the sales shall go to charity.
2. It is not suggested to sell commodities in the Buddhist community exhibition area but we encourage on-site hand-making specialties dishes and snacks for tasting.
